The Eyes Within Us
THE EYES WITHIN US is an intimate exploration of memory, identity, and becoming, shaped by the experience of growing up between cultures. Rooted in an Afro-Italian perspective and guided by the author’s Ghanaian name, Kwadwo Eni [meaning eyes] the book uses observation as both method and meaning.
Through quiet moments of childhood, distance within family, and periods of solitude, the work reflects on how identity is formed not only through what is seen, but through what is felt, remembered, and carried over time. Rather than offering a linear narrative, the book unfolds as a series of emotional impressions, allowing space for reflection, intimacy, and personal interpretation.
Created in close collaboration with Brillustr8 and close relatives and friends.
THE EYE WITHIN US is a meditation on presence, belonging, and self-recognition. It invites the reader to slow down, to look carefully, and to consider how memory and culture shape the inner eye, the one that continues to see long after the moment has passed.
