The Citizen / Hurd's Bank

Published by Spector Books, The Fall by German photographer Tobias Zielony is a series of six books produced in collaboration with various writers of the new literary generation: Dora Koderhold, Joshua Gross, Sophia Eisenhut, Enis Maci, Mazlum Nergiz and Jakob Nolte. Published on the occasion of his retrospective at the Folkwang Museum in Essen, each book features a text or a work of fiction written as a direct counterpoint to one or more of the photographer’s series. Zielony’s work focuses primarily on youth and the definition of identity, both through origins and through fashion. The artist is also interested in understanding how the advent of digital tools plays into the construction and representation of the self. The Fall marks the fourth collaboration between Tobias Zielony and Spector Books since Trona published in 2008. Each of the six volumes presents two to four of the artist’s series accompanied by a text.
